Haryana: Karnal police attach properties worth Rs 2.59 cr of 8 fraudsters

KARNAL: The district police have attached the properties worth Rs 2.59 crore of 8 Punjab-based fraudsters through the Karnal deputy commissioner.As per the police, the accused cheated several people of crores of rupees by promising them to open FD and RD and to give them high interest at the time of maturity.Karnal SP Ganga Ram Punia said that the properties belong to the accused including Malook Singh, Bhupinder, Harpreet, Gurpreet, Saurabh, Mandeep, all residents of Amritsar in Punjab. Besides Sashi and Mahesh of Bihar, presently living in Karnal. He said that lured by the lucrative offer, a number of people invested their hard-earned money with their fake companies namely Sarvotam Vikash Multi State Housing Cooperative Society Limited, Sarvotam Self growth Nidhi Limited, Sarvotam High-tech Limited, and Sarvotam high-tech Infra Developers Limited. The accused committed fraud of Rs 2,41,60,473.The SP said that the action has been taken under the Haryana Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishment Act, 2013, through the district administration. The attached properties include (moveable and immovable assets) the house, plot, agriculture field, vehicles, and cash in bank accounts.He said that the accused had opened their branch in Karnal as well. They even appointed field staff and agents here. They used to lure the common people by offering them high interest on the money deposited by them.Punia said that the accused had cheated a dozen poor people living in hutments at sector 33 and a businessman of Karnal. FIRs had already been registered under sections 420, 406, 120B, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code in this regard.Police said that the main accused Malook Singh is currently lodged in jail and three similar cases have also been registered against him in Kurukshetra district.
